African Lion

The African lion is renown as the largest cat and males develop thick manes on the neck and their shoulders grow at about two-year, short tawny coat and a tufted tail.

They are considered as the kings of the jungle and they are the most sociable.

Lions live in groups known as prides which consists of related females and their cubs.

Lions live in open savanna grasslands, bushes and shrubs obscure them and cover camouflage. Truly, lions are known as ambush hunters and they use this natural cover as a team to stalk and creep as much closer as possible before making a final hunt of their prey.

African Leopard

The African Leopard is famously known to be the champion of athlete among all the cats and they pull seven times while biggest cats for them only pull five times as much force as the same weight of the human athlete.

Their fur in its spots is thick

African Elephant

Elephant can eat up to 450kilograms of vegetation per day.

Cape Buffalo

The Cape Buffalo are also known as water Buffaloes and they are easily seen in all Uganda National Parks.

Males’ buffaloes have curved horns with a double U shape with one meter wide and thicker than the female horns.

Cape Buffaloes are considered as the most dangerous animal among the big5s and they are most hunted by the lions because of its heavily body and short thick legs.

Male buffaloes are bigger than the females and when they turn old age all get dark brown coat.

Buffaloes can be spotted in all Uganda National Parks in the open savannah, montane forest near the water areas.

White Rhino

White Rhino are one of the big five mammals – are larger and bulkier than the Black Rhinos with a distinctive hump on the neck.

They are large herbivorous designed with two upright horns on the bridge with a wide mouth used for grazing and it is most social among other Rhino species.

A mature male can weigh up to two tones and a female weighs up to one and half tones.

White Rhinos tend to hang out in large families and in Uganda can be seen only in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Their habitat is open savanna grassland and shrubs.
