Location of Kibale National Park

The location of Kibale National Park is in the western region of Uganda about 348 kilometers ‘’5hour drive’’ from Kampala and about 26kilomters south-east of the beautiful Fort portal town. Note; Fort portal city is one of Uganda’s most lovely places to explore.

Kibale National Park lies close to the serene Ndali Kasenda crater area and it takes a half day’s drive to Uganda’s popular –Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National parks and the Toro –Semliki Wildlife Reserve.

The southern Kibale borders Queen Elizabeth National Park and collectively protects a 180 kilometers long migration corridor for wildlife that expands from the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in ‘’Ishasha’’, to Sebitoli’’ in northern Kibale.

Wildlife in Kibale National Park

The park harbors over 13 different species primates such as Chimpanzee, Lhotse’s monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, bush babies, blue monkeys, olive baboons and potto among others. Kibale Forest National Park a kingdom home of primates with over 1,500 individuals living in their natural inhabitant.

When to visit

The best time to visit the park is during the dry season when the trails are dry and passable for trekking experience. Dry season starts from December to February and from June to September.

You can still visit the park activities in wet season. Although wet season, receive an average annual rainfall of approximately 1700mm, mainly during March to May and September to November.

The climate is usually favorable with an average annual temperature range of 14C to 27C. The southern part of the park experiences the maximum temperatures and lower amounts of rains where the terrain drops onto the hot rift valley floor and forest provides way to open grassland.
