Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Depending on your point of location, our professional Uganda Rwanda driver guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive through the famous Luwero Triangle. This journey takes about 6 to 7 hours inclusive of a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track white rhinos. The Rhino tracking takes one hour after you will continue the journey to Murchison Falls National Park with another stopover for lunch in Masindi town, arriving in the late afternoon. Have dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 2: Early Game Drive and Boat Safari Lunch Cruise on the Nile River

Wake up very early and head out for a sunrise safari game drive in the Nyamsika plateau where you will be able to see the Cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeest, Uganda Kob, and waterbucks. You will also get exposed to Oribis, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, bush duiker, warthogs, shy sitatunga and bush pig, and large carnivores including kings of the jungle; lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. Chimpanzees and olive baboons head the list of six species of primates found in the park.

You will have a chance of seeing crocodiles and hippos along the banks of the river Nile as well as water birds such as goliath heron, Egyptians geese, hornbill, Kingfishers, pelicans, saddle-bill stork and unique rare shoebill stork. You will drive back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation before you embark in the afternoon for a boat cruise on the stunning Victoria Nile, upstream and to the base of the falls, while on boat cruise you will see crocodiles, hippos, waterbucks and various bird species like cattle egrets, king fishers and the rare shoebill stork. You will also take a cruise of just tens of meters from the ‘’Devil’s cauldron’’ for picture to be taken of the photogenic and famous Murchison.

Day 3: Visit to the top of the falls and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

On the 3rd day of your 12 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari, Wake up early and take breakfast, then visit the top of the Mighty Murchison Falls, where you will have great sights of the Nile River squeezing it ‘self into a 7-meter gorge before tumbling 40 meters downs in a thunderous explosion and then flowing down into a very cool river whose water banks are swarmed with a profusion of water and Land animals as well as bird species.

You will transfer on a 6-hour journey to Kibale Forest National park and you will drive through verdant countryside dotted with traditional homesteads and farms and continue to drive via the towns of Hoima and Fort portal in the backdrop of the fabled Mountains of the Moon. Day 4: Chimpanzee trek and Bigodi swamp walk

After having breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, where the highest concentration of primates in East Africa is exceptionally found. The most sought-after of its 13 primate species are the Chimpanzees. Kibale Forest is also home to primate species such as the rare L’hoest’s monkey, the black and white colobus monkeys, the Grey-cheeked mangabey, the Red-tailed monkey, and olive baboon many more.

Chimpanzee tracking starts early in the morning with a briefing and then after the meeting, a driver guide will allocate you to the assigned family. Once you allocate to chimpanzees one hour will be given to you to spend with them to learn about their behaviors and picture taking. Then hike back to the lodge for lunch.

Later on, in the afternoon you will go for a guided nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for primate viewing, bird viewing, and enjoying breathtaking and also offers a rich cultural heritage site where you can mix with the local people to learn about their traditional activities and amazing lifestyles. Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park Via the Crater Lakes regions

Wake up have breakfast and after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with stopovers for sightseeing and lunch en-route. You will be amazed by the remarkable stopover at the Crater lakes region and visit the Amabeere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves.  These caves are famous for the wonder of milk substance that oozes out of the rocks and with cultural mythology attached to them on a visit you will learn about their cultural significance and also get a scientific explanation of their existence and it’s a good place to visit for those that are nature lovers. You will check out the chamber that is said to have been the resting place of the Bachwezi dogs and the ceiling show pits resembling dog paws. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town and then continue to drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 6: Game Drive in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park

On the 6th day of your 12 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari, Wake up early and take breakfast for a game drive in the northern part of the park in search of herds of elephants, leopards, Uganda kob, giant forest hog, and solitary buffaloes. Morning hours are the best time for watching the big cats of the jungle in action owing to the vast population of Uganda kobs.  You will have a great opportunity to view just about every animal here at a very close range. After you will drive back to your lodge and later go for a boat launch along the Kazinga Channel whose shores harbor species of water animals and bird species including pied and malachite kingfishers, pink-backed pelicans, and saddle-billed storks among others. Day 7: Game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

After breakfast, transfer to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for another game drive safari. Ishasha sector is a famous site for its unique tree-climbing lions which can be viewed resting on the fig trees branches as they scan for kobs’ ‘’favorite prey’’ in the neighboring mating grounds.

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On the 8th day of your 12 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari, You will have an early delicious breakfast and be driven to the park headquarter for a briefing at the park headquarters about the dos and don’ts of Mountain Gorilla Tracking. Then after the briefing, you will set off on the mountain gorilla trek in the thick jungle with rich forest sounds.

The trekking experience can take between 2 to 8 hours and you have one hour to spend with the mountain gorillas as you learn about them. In the afternoon you can opt to do either a community walk among the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before gazette into a national park. You will be able to learn about their life and culture as a forest people or spend the whole afternoon resting at the lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Wake up have breakfast and transfer to Rwanda destination your driver guide will drive you through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘’the Switzerland of Africa’’ because of its remarkable Mediterranean weather despite its location being near the equator. As your drive to the Rwanda destination, you will be amazed by the great countryside, and bamboo forest, and have great views of the scenic Virunga Mountains. You will cross the national border at Gatuna and drive to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and check in at the lodge of your booking.

Day 10: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

On the 10th day of your 12 Days Uganda & Rwanda Safari, After an early breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules of golden monkey tracking and be allocated the golden monkey family you’re to trek. After briefing be led by the ranger guides into the forest to search for the Golden monkeys in the Volcano Virunga Hills and the verdant valley. Once found, you will spend a maximum of one hour observing them in their natural setting. The golden tracking can take 2 to 5 hours after you will return to your booked lodge for lunch and relaxation. Dinner and Overnight stay

Day 11: Transfer to Kigali and Visit to Genocide memorial

Wake up have breakfast and drive to Kigali City where you will have lunch and later visit the Gisozi Genocide memorial site for a historical firsthand account of the genocide that destroyed more than 1,000,000 people in the 1990s. Then after, return to the hotel for your dinner and overnight.

Day 12: City Excursion and Departure

Wake up on a leisurely morning and have a relaxed breakfast and later visit one of the craft shops –buy souvenirs and also experience the life of the people in this city. Later you will be transferred to the Airport to catch your departure flight back home country.
