Bweza Gorilla Lodge

Bweza Gorilla Lodge is located in perfect area right at the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a primeval forest and lust jungle region in Southwestern Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to the highest population of endangered mountain gorillas, forest elephants and over 350 bird species and 23 species of birds are endemic to the area. However, the lodge is located just 5minutes walk from the briefing point for trekking thus making the lodge a sought-after lodge for gorilla tracking safaris. Moreso, the lodge offers a lot of activities including; visit to the Batwa pygmies, guided community walks, mountain biking and forest walks to the Bayenda Falls.

The lodge is comprised of five individual rooms each with private wooden balconies overlooking the wilderness. The lodge’s architecture is excellent and all amenities from home are offered.

The five bedrooms are surrounded by banana plantation and guava trees cocoon and in the room’s distance there are rewarding views of the forest jungle with its ancient canopy of trees decorating the beautiful hills.

Accessibility: The quickest way to access there is by air to the Kisoro airstrip from Entebbe Airport and then arrange a road transfer ‘’2hours’’ to the lodge. Though the road transport is more remember with scenic landscape, hills carpeted with tea and coffee plantations, rural villages, tropical vegetation thus representing Uganda as the pearl of Africa. Indeed, Uganda is a is beautiful country with its pristine landscapes. Just know, the lodge is one of the most untouched regions – renown for its primate population and variety of birdlife species.

Activities to do while Bweza Gorilla Lodge;

Gorilla Tracking;

Gorilla trekking is an excellent experience which starts early in the morning after your breakfast, your driver guide will drive you to the visiting Centre for a short briefing about gorilla trekking rules. Then after, meet up with your guides to allocate you to the gorilla family you’re assigned to. The trekking experience takes about 30 to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorilla in the forest.

Once the gorilla family is located one hour is given to you to spend with them watching, learning about they live, feed, play and also capturing nice pictures.

Birding; Some of birds to see includes; Kiev gerund thrush, white tailed blue, giant kingfisher, Cinnamon-chested bee eater, African harrier hawk, African green pigeon, White tailed blue, African blue, Bulbul, African Emerald cuckoo, Fly catcher, African green pigeon among others. Birding in Bwindi is best enjoyed along the Buhoma waterfall trail, Bamboo zone and Mubwindi swamp trail in Ruhija.
