14 Days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari : This 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari is an incredible adventure that will take you to Murchison falls national park which is the largest protected area in Uganda that harbors abundant wildlife species including elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, lions, leopards which will be viewed during the game drive and boat cruise. From Murchison falls national park you will connect to Kibale forest national park where you will engage in an interesting Bigodi swamp walk and chimpanzee trekking then Queen Elizabeth national park where you will enjoy great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, warthogs, different bird species among others during the game drive and boat cruise. During the 13 days best of Uganda adventure, you will also visit the misty forest of Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern Uganda where you will have a face to face interaction with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in Uganda and Lake Mburo national park where you will be able to view different animals like zebras, elands, giraffes, topi, oribi, impalas among others.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to a hotel in Kampala

Depending on your arrival time at Entebbe international airport on day 1of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then transfer to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa rhino sanctuary

After breakfast on day 2 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, our driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and start the journey to Murchison falls national park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you will engage in Rhino tracking. After the exciting rhino tracking you will continue the journey with another stopover in Masindi town for lunch. After lunch you will proceed the journey to Murchison falls national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Morning game drive

After an early breakfast on day 3 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be rewarded with great views of animals like buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda kobs, Jacksons hartebeest, waterbucks, elephants among other which will be grazing in open plains with due, view predators like lions, hyenas, leopards looking for a morning hunt, view different bird species among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise,

After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an amazing boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. during the boat cruise which takes about 2 to 3 hours you will be able to view hippos in water, Nile crocodiles basking along the banks, view animals like elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs drinking water along the shores, view water birds like kingfishers, cormorants, fish eagles, hornbills, bee-eaters among others. After the boat ride you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale forest national park

On day 4 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife, you will have breakfast and your driver guide will pick you up to start the journey to Kibale forest national park also known as the primate capital. On the way you will have en-route lunch, enjoy stunning views of the beautiful scenery, landscape, countryside’s, tea and banana plantations, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain peaks have stopovers to take pictures and stretch your legs. Upon arrival in the park you will check into the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast on day 5 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing you will be sub divided into groups of 6 people and start trekking in the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzee family. During the trekking you will be able to view different wildlife species including mammals like forest elephants, buffaloes, other primate species like red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, grey checked baboon, view different bird species, tree species among others. Once the chimpanzees under habituation are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to observe their behaviors, habits, watch them feed, breastfeed, hunt, play, fight, mate, rest, take photos and record the moments to show people back home after the safari. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return back to the lodge for lunch.

Bigodi swamp walk

after lunch you will go for an amazing nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view variety of bird species like the great blue turaco, view mammals like bush bucks, sitatunga, primates like l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, view different plant and tree species, enjoy the cool breeze among others. After the Bigodi swamp walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park

On day 6 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will enjoy great views of farmlands, traditional homesteads, crater lakes, Rwenzori mountain ranges among others. Upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth national park, you will continue to check into the lodge for lunch and after lunch and relaxation. In the evening you will go for a game drive in the park where you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks among others going back to their resting areas. After the evening game drive you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise

After an early breakfast on day 7 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive/ lion tracking experience in the park. During the game drive which is commonly done in Kasenyi plains you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, Uganda kobs, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, bush bucks and predators like lions, leopards, hyenas among others if you are lucky. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise

After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise at Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 hours you will enjoy great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks among others drinking water along the shores, view large concentrations of hippo and Nile crocodiles in water, aquatic bird species such as cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills among others. After the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park          

After breakfast on day 8 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will pass via Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions during the game drive. After the game ride, you will have en-route lunch and then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

After an early breakfast on day 9 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will carry packed lunch and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during trekking. After the briefing you will be sub divided in groups of 8 people where each group will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is well conversant with trails in the jungle. Trekking of mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located because they like to move from place to place in search of food. During trekking you will be able to view other primate species like l’hoest monkeys, chimpanzees, view variety of forest birds, different plant species among others. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, playing, observe their behaviors, habits, take photos and record the breathtaking moments. After the one hour with the gorillas you will return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Nature walk and community tour

After breakfast on day 10 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the starting point for a nature walk briefing. After the briefing you will start hiking in the jungle with a park guide who is well conversant with different nature walk trails.  During the guided nature walk you will be able to view different primate species, birds, mammals, view different plant and tree species, colorful butterflies, enjoy the cool breeze among others. After the nature walk you will transfer to the lodge for lunch.

Community tour

After lunch you will go for an interesting community tour where you will be able to interact with the local people in the neighboring villages. During the community tour, you will be able to learn about their culture, way of living, visit their homesteads, farmlands, taste their traditional meals, enjoy their traditional dances and songs among others. After the community tour, you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After a relaxed breakfast on day 11 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale which is the deepest lake in Uganda and second deepest lake in East Africa. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours and on the way you will enjoy great views of the Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival you will check into the lodge for lunch where after you will either spend the rest of the day at leisure or engage in optional activities like nature walks or cultural tour.

Day 12: Canoeing/ boat cruise and transfer to Lake Mburo national park

After breakfast on day 12 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will enjoy breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting boat cruise/canoeing on Lake Bunyonyi where you will be able to explore some of the 29 islands on Lake Bunyonyi, view different bird species, animals on Kyahugye island, enjoy the beautiful landscape, terraced farmlands among others. After the boat ride, you will return back to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Lake Mburo national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On day 13 of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park where you will be able to view animals when they are most active. During the game drive you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, Uganda kobs, zebras, elands, waterbucks, warthogs, giraffes, impalas, topi, oribi, bush bucks and different bird species.  After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise

After lunch you will go for an interesting boat cruise at Lake Mburo where you will enjoy great views of animals like buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks among others drinking water along the shores, view hippos and Nile crocodiles in water, water bird species such as the elusive shoebill stork, cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills among others. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 hours you will also be able to view fishermen who will be preparing their fishing gears for night fishing.  After the boat cruise you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 14 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer back to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch and a stopover at the Equator to take photos and buy souvenirs. From the Equator you will proceed to Kampala arriving in the evening and upon arrival you will be dropped off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
