Our 2 Days Arusha National Park & Mount Meru Trek Safari trip leads you to two different safari destinations that are: Arusha National Park, home to its diverse ecosystems, from forests to savannahs, which are inhabited by a range of giraffes, zebras, buffalos, and various species of primates. The park also offers excellent views of Mount Meru and its crater. A fact about Mount Meru is that it is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro. This trek offers a stunning chance to experience Tanzania’s rugged landscapes, rich biodiversity, and beautiful views of the surrounding areas, including Kilimanjaro on a clear day.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and Travel to Arusha National Park
You will start the day with a warm welcome by our professional driver–guide, who will brief you about the trip. You will then set off on the journey to Arusha National Park. Upon arrival, drive straight to the park with more stops for wildlife viewing spots.
After the game drive, you can opt to do a walking safari with a park ranger, allowing you to explore the flora and smaller wildlife of the park up close, including birding. Enjoy a picnic lunch within the park for a meal, surrounded by nature. An option of doing a canoe ride on the Lakes and observing the abundant birdlife.
Day 2: Mount Meru Trek /Depart to Arusha
After morning breakfast, followed by a transfer to the Momella Gate ‘’the main entrance to the park. You will start the trek at the gate, with the help of a local guide who will lead you up the mountain. The trek typically starts with a gentle climb through montane forest, where you will be able to encounter wildlife and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Also enjoying the view and taking some memorable photos of the panoramic landscapes.
You will stop for a picnic lunch near the ridge.
Proceed with hiking, reaching one of the crater viewpoints. On a clear day, you will have a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. This is also a rewarding spot to rest and soak in the beauty of your surroundings.
Your hiking experience may take you back down to the park gate or opt to do a full day hike, depending on the pace you prefer.
