5 Days Bwindi gorilla Habituation and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari : This 5 days Bwindi gorilla habituation and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari is an extraordinary safari that starts and ends in Kampala Uganda. The tour will take you to Bwindi impenetrable national park in southwestern region where you will have a face to face interaction with the endangered mountain gorillas in their environment during the gorilla habituation experience. The safari will also take you to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to view abundant wildlife species like buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, hippos, different bird species among others during the game drive in Kasenyi plains and boat cruise on Kazinga channel.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Depending on your location on the first day of the 5 days Bwindi gorilla habituation and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in southwestern Uganda.

It’s a whole day journey that takes about 8 to 9 hours drive, on the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe to buy souvenirs, take photographs and then continue the journey with another stopover at Igongo cultural centre for en-route lunch. After lunch you will proceed to the park with spectacular views of the rolling hills, terraced farmlands and countryside on the way. Upon arrival in the park you will continue to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park

Gorilla habituation experience,

After an early breakfast on the second day of the 5 days Bwindi gorilla habituation and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari you will, carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla habituation briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle with a team of researchers, scientists, trackers and park guides. Gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi impenetrable national park takes a whole day depending on where the gorilla family is located.

During trekking you will be able to view other wildlife species including animals like elephants, duikers, buffaloes, primates like chimpanzees, l’hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, variety of bird species, different plant and tree species among others.  Once the gorilla family under habituation is located you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, playing, monitor and record their behaviors, habits, engage in the naming process, take photos among others. After the four hour encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet up with your driver guide and return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park via Ishasha sector

After breakfast on the third day of the safari you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda. On the way you will have a stopover at Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park for a game drive where you will be rewarded with great views of the unique tree climbing lions which will be lying up in acacia/fig tree branches. After the game drive in Ishasha sector you will have en-route lunch and then continue the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park where you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight upon arrival.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On the fourth day of the safari, you will have breakfast and your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive in the park. During the game drive which is commonly done in Kasenyi plains you will be able to view different animals like buffaloes, Uganda kobs, elephants, waterbucks, warthogs, bush bucks among others which will be grazing in savannah plains with due, view predators like lions, leopards, hyena looking for a morning hunt if you are lucky, view different bird species and many others. After the game drive you will return back to the lodge for lunch.

Afternoon boat cruise

After lunch you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 hours you will enjoy great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks drinking water along the shores, view large concentrations of hippo in water, Nile crocodiles basking on the water banks, view aquatic bird species such as cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, hornbills, bee-eaters among others. After the interesting boat cruise you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Departure to Kampala

After a relaxed breakfast on the last day of the 5 days Bwindi gorilla habituation and Queen Elizabeth wildlife tour, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. On the way you will enjoy great views of the countryside, tea plantations, beautiful scenery and have en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch you will continue with the journey to Kampala arriving early evening and upon arrival your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of convenience.
