Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali city tour – transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Ibyacuwa village tour
On day 1 of the 5 Days Rwanda Golden Monkeys and Bwindi Gorilla Trekking, depending on your location in Kigali, you will be welcomed by our safari driver–guide for a city tour in Kigali city visiting the Kigali genocide memorial site, Kandt house museum, and Kimoronko market. Thereafter, have lunch then drive to Volcanoes National Park for a drive which takes 3 hours drive from Kigali through a beautiful countryside with thrilling rolling hills and countryside. Have en-route lunch.
Arrive and connect to the Ibyawacu Cultural Village for a cultural experience. This is where you will learn about the people and culture of Rwanda. You will enjoy the cultural heritage through dance, drama, and storytelling, and participate and buy one of the local souvenirs. Depending on the time, you will end the day with a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Continue a drive to your booked lodge for check-in, relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Golden monkey tracking – transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the endangered golden monkeys. The activity starts at 7 am and once you locate them, one hour is allowed to spend with them. During the track, expect to encounter other primate species like red-tailed monkeys, Vervet monkeys among others. After viewing these active primates for an hour. Return to the base and meet your driver. Take your driving journey to Uganda via Cyanika border to connect to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Arrive at the border, make a clearing with the immigration, and continue to your booked lodge in Bwindi forest for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking – Batwa community tour
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a briefing by the ranger guides and later head into the forest for your trek. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. These primates roam the park freely and there is no way of telling where they will be for a particular day.
On finding them, you will be given 1 hour to view and take photos of these unique mountain gorillas, enjoy your packed lunch, and later, hike back meet your driver/guide, and transfer back to your lodge.
The time after trekking, connect to visit the Batwa community around the park. The Batwa people are the indigenous people of Uganda who stayed in this area before gazette into a national park. You will learn more about the Batwa’s way of life by enjoying the songs and dances of the Batwa. Later evening drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Explore Lake Bunyonyi ‘’2 to 3-hour drive’’
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. This place is good to good for relaxation after all the hiking experience. Lake Bunyonyi ranks as the second deepest lake in Africa with 29 islands like the Punishment Island, Bushara, Bwama, and Njuyeera islands to mention a few. The lake is surrounded by steep terraced hillsides and best of all, unlike other lakes, Lake Bunyonyi is Bilharzia, hippo and crocodile with crystal clear waters perfect for swimming.
Arrive, head for a boat trip on the lake, and visit some of the islands. Connect to your booked hotel for check-in, have lunch, and spend your afternoon relaxing at the lodge and enjoying beautiful views of the lake, or take the option of going for Zip-lining at your own cost or doing any other interesting activity of your choice. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive back to Kigali
After breakfast, meet the driver who will take you back to Kigali – Rwanda. The drive back to Kigali takes between 4 to 5 hours’ drive. Upon arrival in Kigali, be dropped off at your hotel or be dropped off at Kigali Airport for your departure flight back home.
