The 6 Days Uganda Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari is an excellent combined Uganda primate safari, leading you to encounter the great mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park as well as chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park. During your visit you will also enjoy one of the Uganda unique culture through visiting the Batwa people, who offers amazing story telling, their tradition dance and songs.
This trip starts and ends in Kampala and Entebbe.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
Upon your first day of the 6 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide at your hotel or Entebbe Airport, will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Kibale national park. The driving journey covers about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and along the way enjoy thrilling views of the local people, farmlands, traditional homesteads, Rwenzori Mountains, tea plantations many others. You will have en-route lunch in Fort Portal and then continue the journey to Kibale national park. Arrive and check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Kibale forest lodge-budget or Chimpanzee forest lodge-midrange
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 6 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to drive you to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for briefing about for chimpanzee trekking rules. After the briefing, head out into Kibale forest in search of the chimpanzees which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their movements. On finding them, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which offers you a chance to learn more about their life style, behaviors, habits, watch them feed, play, hunt, fight, take photos and record videos with a flash less camera.
After the one-hour encounter with the chimpanzees you will trek back to the park headquarters to meet up with your driver guide and drive back to the lodge for delicious lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a beautiful nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view different primate species, birds, mammals, plant and tree species many others. After the swamp walk, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the third day of the 6 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to travel to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy amazing views of the terraced farmlands, Kigezi hills, traditional homesteads, crater lakes and others. Upon arrival, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma community rest camp-budget or Buhoma haven lodge-midrange
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
You will wake up on the fourth day of the 6 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari have breakfast, carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to drive to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle which takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorillas. This is because, gorillas like to move from one place to another in search of food. During trekking expect to enjoy rewarding views of primates such as l’hoest monkeys, vervet monkeys, animals, plants, bird species many others. Once the gorillas are found you will be given one hour to spend with them in their natural habitat which offers you a great opportunity to learn more about their behaviors and also watch their daily activities like feeding, breastfeeding, playing, take photos and record the moments to show people back home.
After the great moment with the mountain gorillas you will trek back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and later meet up with your driver guide to return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 5: Nature walk and Batwa cultural tour
After breakfast on the fifth day of the safari, meet up with your driver guide to go for a guided nature walk in the park where you will be able to watch different bird species, primates, colorful butterflies, plant and tree species, listen to sweet sounds of bird species many others. After the guided nature walk, walk back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an amazing Batwa cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa people, learn about their culture, way of living, visit their homesteads, enjoy their cultural performances many more. After the cultural tour, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Departure to Kampala
After breakfast on the last day of the 6 days Uganda gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, check out of the lodge and meet up with your guide to drive to Kampala. On the way you will have en-route lunch and enjoy views of the rolling hills, scenic scenery, landscape among others. Upon arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at your hotel in Kampala or be dropped at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
