Bwindi Impenetrable national park entrance fees are the charges that are levied on each visitor visiting the park or any protected area to access it for the activity carried out inside the park. Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park is home to the half world endangered mountain gorillas and also a house to other wildlife species like forest elephants ,white and black colobus monkeys ,bush pigs many more .

Bird life and beautiful butterflies which call Bwindi their home .This park is positioned in the southwestern region of Uganda above the sea level, bordered the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Virunga Mountains in the west .Bwindi estimates 9 to 10 driving hours while by air transport takes 1:30 hours to access the park.

This national park is fully regulated by the body that governs all protected areas and the conservation areas known as UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority which levies the prices to all these protected areas in Uganda. Such as Gorilla trekking permits can also be bought at the body offices in Kampala capital city. All these arrangements can be helped by a trusted tour operator with registered tour company.

Important Note;

The fees apply to Bwindi Impenetrable national park is outlasted for foreign residents in Uganda and East African Citizens only. For vehicle entrance is paid separately.

Not valid for package activities such as Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking, Mountaineering, Hiking many more.

Foreign residents are required to show out their working permits valid for one year to qualify for an annual pass.

 Tour guide is a well-trained and licensed individual who guides guests through different activities whether by nature, canoe, vehicle, boat and horseback.

Tour Company Driver; is a professional driver from a recognized Ugandan safari company that drives visitors to the park’s premises.

Then vehicles, boat and aircraft also have landing and entrance charges to be paid to the ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority charged per entry.

N.B Regulation for Individual Entrance Fees

All visitors are required to present in their valid identification documents to notify the resident status.

Fees must be quoted in USD /United States Dollar and UGX/Uganda Shillings.

A day’s entrance ticket is valid for ‘’24’’ hours/twenty-four hours from the time of entrance.

Extra time spent within the park after 24hours will be charged as an extra day.

Trekking age is 15 years above and below that age you are not allowed to trek mountain gorillas.

Entrance fees are individual of the package activities like gorilla trekking, Mountain climbing, Bird watching and so on.

The park entry charges and all other charges are levied based on the status of a traveler. Such as Foreign Non-Resident, Foreign Resident and the ‘’E.A.C’’ East African Citizens as mentioned below;

Adults are expected to pay USD40 for Foreign Non Residents, USD30 for Foreign Residents and East African Citizens UGX20,000 as individual park entrance fees to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Children are expected to pay USD20 for Foreign Non-Residents, USD10 for Foreign Resident and UGX5,000 for East African Citizens.

Pupils /students of East Africa in groups are entitled to pay UGX 3,000 while students groups in Tertiary institutions or Universities are changed UGX 5,000 as park entrance.

Annual Park Entry Fees

You can decide to pay park entrance fees annually to be allowed in the park on any day. It is an optional to only Foreign residents and East African Citizens. Then Foreign Non Residents are not allowed to pay for this option. Foreign Residents need to hold a work permit valid for a year to qualify for this annual pass.

An individual charges USD 350 for Foreign Residents and UGX 150,000 for East African Citizens to acquire an annual entrance access to Bwindi impenetrable Forest national park

A couple for Foreign Resident expect to pay USD500 and an East African Citizen couple are charged UGX 200,000 as an annual pass.

A Family with a maximum of ‘’4’’ four children entitled to pay USD700 for Foreign Residents and UGX 300,000 for East African Families as an annual park fees.

Annual corporate park entrance fees to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park goes for USD1,500 for Foreign residents and UGX 2,500,000 for East African members.

Both a tour guide and taxi driver are expected to pay UGX 100,000 as annual park entrance fees.

Vehicle Entry fees

Motorcycles with foreign registration charge USD30 while those with a Ugandan registration expect to pay USD5.

Saloon cars with foreign number plates are entitled to pay USD40 while those with Uganda registration are charged USD10 only.

Tour company vehicles and 4-wheel drive vehicles expect to pay USD150 for those with Foreign registration while those with Ugandan registered pay USD15 only

Over landers that have Foreign registration expect to pay USD150 whereas those with Ugandan registration expect to pay USD50 to Uganda Wildlife Authority per entry.

Aircraft landing charges are all the same depending on Visa for Foreign and East African. Aircraft with;

Pilots en-route do not pay entry fees, if they stay for less than 2 hours in the park

Sitting Configuration up to 3 seaters expect to pay USD20 per landing

4 to 6 seater expect to pay USD30 per landing

7 to 14 seater expect to pay USD40 per landing

15 to 20 seater are entitled to pay USD per landing

21 seats and above expect to pay USD60

Helicopter ‘’per landing’’ is entitled to pay USD100 for foreign and USD 125 for Ugandan registered.

Parking fees is at UGX10,000 per day

Gorilla trekking permits is at a fee of USD700 for Foreign Non Resident, USD600 for foreign resident and UGX250,000 for East African citizens. We advise you to book your gorilla trekking permit at least six months in advance, you can book up to two years in advance with no worry with a trust worthy tour operator.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park can be easily outreached by both Road and Air Transport and can be visited all year around.
