How to get to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park; Well, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be reached by both road and air transport.
By air; it can be reached by scheduled or chartered flight ‘’Aero link Uganda a domestic flight which sits at Entebbe International Airport. Since Bwindi hosts four gorilla trekking sector that is Buhoma, Ruhija, Nkuringo and Rushaga which can easily be accessed by both air and road. The relatively carrier that usually runs to Bwindi is Aero link from Entebbe Airport or Kajjansi Airfield landing you at Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip and the four gorilla sectors are close to one of the respective airstrips. Kihihi is the closest airstrip to the Buhoma and Ruhija trailheads and Kisoro is closest to the southerly Rushaga and Nkuringo. Both airstrips are located about 40 kilometers from the and the drive from either usually takes about 1hour and 30minutes.
By road; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be reached by road through four different trailheads for gorilla trekking, which are Buhoma and Ruhija in the north and Rushaga and Nkuringo in the south. The Buhoma as the main gorilla trekking trailhead can be reached from Queen Elizabeth National Park in around 2 to 3 hours, enter the park through the Ishasha sector.
By road from Lake Mburo National Park -Bwindi can be reached within 5 to 7 hours to several trail heads.
Driving straight from Entebbe or Kampala take about 8 to 10 hours.
Drive from Kigali via Chanika border to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which takes 4 hours’ drive.
NB; During the rainy season, we recommend you to travel by 4wheeldrive vehicles.

Facts about, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO heritage site and managed by ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority a governing body responsible for all Uganda National Parks. More so, the park is popular worldwide because of being a home to the highest population of mountain gorillas that still exists in the wild. Still a home with the highest concentration of about 23 habituated gorilla families which are divided into four gorilla sectors; Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga.
The main tourist attraction in Bwindi are the mountain gorillas which can be allocated through gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking experience can be done with a valid permit which can be purchased direct from ‘’UWA’’ Uganda Wildlife Authority or book by help of trustworthy tour operator. Gorilla trekking permits Uganda costs USD700 per person and gorilla habituations cost 1,500 per person.

Gorilla trekking; This is a stunning activity which starts early in the morning after breakfast and be driven to the park headquarter for briefing about gorilla rules and regulations. After, you will meet up with your guide to group you in a group of eight individuals. Then, the ranger guide will escort you through forest trails in search of the mountain gorilla which can take about 30 to 7 hours depending on their location.
Once you allocate them, you will be allowed an hour to spend with gorillas as you learn about their behaviors, feeding, play, take photos and capturing videos for the future remembrance.
Gorilla habituation experience; This is quite an incredible experience which is a full day experience, starts with a briefing and then be accompanied by the researcher, journalist, doctor and ranger guide to lead you habituated gorilla family. Once you allocate them ,four ‘’4hours’’ will be given to you to spend with gorillas as you engage in collecting gorilla samples , enjoy picture taking ,playing of these creatures among others.
Best time to go for Gorilla safaris; Gorilla safaris is best to go in dry season of the year which starts from June to Mid-September and December to February.
