Gorilla habituation experience is a thrilling activity in Rushaga sector where the wild mountain gorillas are trained to get used to human presence for trekking. Gorilla habituation experience is only done in Rushaga sector and it starts very early in the morning with a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations. After the briefing you will join a team of researchers, park rangers, trackers, park guides and start trekking in the jungle. Best time to visit Rushaga sector for gorilla trekking

Rushaga sector can be visited anytime of the year though the best time is during the dry season also known as the peak season in the months of June, July, August, September, December, January and February.  During the dry season there is less or little rainfall in the park therefore access roads to Rushaga sector and gorilla trekking trails will be dry and passable which makes trekking easy, vegetation will be thin which helps you to view gorillas and other wildlife species clearly.

How to get to Rushaga sector

Rushaga sector is located in the southern part of Bwindi impenetrable national park and can be accessed by road transport means whereby you will drive from Kampala via Masaka, Mbarara, Kabale and then to the park headquarters which takes about 9 to 10 hours’ drive in a 4 WD safari vehicle.

You can also access Rushaga sector from Kigali Rwanda whereby you will fly to Kigali international airport and then connect to Rushaga sector via Cyaninka border.

Rushaga sector can as well be accessed by air transport means whereby you will book scheduled or charter flights with bar aviation or Aero link Uganda from Entebbe international airport to Kisoro airstrip and then connect to Rushaga sector by road.
